CEREC

If you have a toothache, you may need a crown. But traditionally, a crown requires two visits to the dentist, and between visits, you have to wear a temporary – which may fall off, creating the need for yet another trip to the dentist. Not any more. Anaesthesia Dental Group has invested in CEREC, an in-office system that uses 3D technology to design a crown, then an in-office milling machine to fabricate it. In just one visit to our Ottawa dental office, you can have a strong, tooth-colored crown, inlay, or onlay.

CEREC stands for Chairside Economic Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This innovative technology has transformed restorative dentistry by saving time and providing beautiful, lasting crowns. CEREC Blocks are used to mill restorations. They have been tested for 20 years and offer a durable alternative to crowns, inlays, or onlays produced in a dental lab.

Teeth with extensive tooth decay, large fillings, or cracks may require a crown to restore optimal strength, beauty, and function. Not all cases are right for CEREC. For instance, on molars, a porcelain-fused-to-metal or all-metal restoration may provide the best option because of the intense pressure that back teeth incur.
